Sex On Fire and It Has Risen to the Top of the Chart!!!

Photobucket

Kings of Leon has broke up the charts to climb up to No.1 in the Billboard Rock Albums this week. I've personally been rooting for them to get the top spot ever since i started listening to their "Only By Night" album since 2 months back.

Photobucket

Kings of Leon which consist of brothers Anthony "Caleb" Followill (vocals and guitar), Ivan "Nathan" Followill (drums, percussion and vocals) and Michael "Jared" Followill (bass guitar and vocals), with their cousin Cameron "Matthew" Followill (guitar and vocals) which hail from Nashville, Tennessee.

Photobucket

They have been around since 2003 with their breed of southern rock and psychedelic riffs. But they really broke the glasses with their latest album which is "Only By Night" and that album has been certified platinum in the United States by the RIAA for selling one million copies in less than a year after its release.

Photobucket

The album also have received a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 51st Grammy Awards with the single "Sex on Fire" receiving two nominations for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and Best Rock Song.

Personally i really feel in love with the track "Sex on Fire". The song is just so haunting yet retro but still has the modern alternative feel. And their video is just simply amazing.

"Use Somebody" would be the second single which won't be strange to most people cause it has been on heavy rotation on any radio station in the world. With the haunting background echoes and melodramatic voice of Anthony's simply gives chills.

Overall i have to give a 2 thumbs up for "Only By Night". It's a must get album for all music lovers who loves some soul in their music.

Chelsea FC Started the New 2009/2010 Season with a Home Win!!!

Photobucket

Went to watch the game live with Jason at a local mamak called Samy's corner in Taman Yulek, Cheras. Was rushing to the catch the match after having music practice for Sunday Church Service in church.

Photobucket

Was suprised that the mamak was kinda empty. Guessed not many Chelsea fans around this area. LOLz. Anyways i was with my Chelsea jersey on me and happily and proudly wearing it as i watch the match.

Photobucket

First half was really disappointing, the game pace was slow. And worst of all we conceded a goal first in our home ground. Moreover was that damn Stephen Hunt, the ex-Reading player who injured our keepers! WTF!? But good thing the equalizer was a stunner, superb freekick from Drogs.

Second half was a totally different story. Chelsea manage to dominate almost the entire second half. Was finally getting to see what i've wanted to see from my beloved team.

I was desperately hoping to see a first win for the new season but seeing the time left which is close approaching to the 90th minute was really not a good sight.

But miracle do happen at times, on the closing last few minutes during extra time, Drogba netted his second goal of the day. Awesome! Whistle blows and a win for the opening Premiership weekend. Woohoo!!!

Too bad, didn't get to see our new signings play that day. Was hoping to see Daniel Sturridge to play. Hopefully soon.

At the end of the day was happy that Chelsea kick start their new season with a win and i believe more wins to come as the season grow deeper in.

Internet users upset over Govt’s filter attempt!!!

Internet users upset over Govt’s filter attempt
By JO TIMBUONG

PETALING JAYA: Online and wire agency reports that the Government is mulling an Internet filtering system similar to China’s controversial “Green Dam” project has got the local online community in a huff, while technology experts questioned the viability of the project.

Online portals and wire agencies reported earlier Thursday that the Government has called for a tender for a system that could block “undesirable websites.”

Information, Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim, whose ministry issued the tender, also plans to secure direct control over the content and monitoring division of Malaysia’s Internet regulator, Reuters quoted a source as saying.

Rais himself said last month that he would introduce measures to “control the bad” elements on the Internet.

Neither Rais, nor any of the government bodies related to technology, were available for comment at press time.

China’s Green Dam project sought to install software filters on all computers sold in the country to block pornography and “other harmful content,” but has been put on the backburner because of technical issues and a rising tide of protest from civil society in and outside China.

The Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Pikom) was disappointed with what it said was the Malaysian Government’s attempt to censor the Internet.

“It has gone against its word to ensure the medium remains open and uncensored,” Pikom chairman David Wong said.

The MSC Malaysia Bill of Guarantees specifies that the Internet will not be censored to ensure the success of the MSC Malaysia initiative, he noted.

“It will also be difficult to filter ‘harmful content,’ especially that found in blogs, on the Internet as it knows no boundaries,” he said.

Wong said Internet users did not share their thoughts only on blogs, but also through social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, as well as chatrooms and forums.

He said a better and more viable measure would be to educate the public on the consquences of spreading harmful or irresponsible content.

Technology advocate Dinesh Nair said the Government’s efforts might just be in vain.

“They can try to filter the Internet but it won’t work,” he said.

He also believed that if the main reason was to block “undesirable content,” the Government would be better off using the educational approach.

If the Government were to block one “harmful site,” another would just pop up in its place, he added.

Internet users, he said, view online censorship as damaging and will always find ways to circumvent any such barrier.

“It’s better to educate the rakyat (people) to be proactive and identify these sites and exercise good Internet surfing habits, rather than censoring the Internet,” he said.

Artist and new media advocate Muid Latif said Internet censorship would only contribute to the negative growth of the Malaysian information and communications technology sector, especially in the area of creative content.

“This ridiculous restriction will reflect badly on Malaysia and potential investors will think twice about making an investment here,” he said.

Many in the Government have blamed the vibrant and critical Internet culture for Barisan Nasional’s losses in the 12th General Election in March last year, and there has been pressure from some quarters to muzzle the medium.

The Government had previously considered registering bloggers, many of whom are critical of the ruling coalition.

District 9 Movie Review

Photobucket

One thing to categorized D-9, either you gonna like it or hate it. I gotta say District 9 was a very good movie for me. Neill Blomkamp is indeed a visionary director and District 9, i gotta say deserved an applause from me. Below are some of the reviews that i think it's worth mentioning.

Photobucket

The whole team was about ethnic/race tension but in this case it's the aliens who are the victim. I have to give credit on Sharlto Copley on playing his character Wikus van der Merw very well. Potraying him as a nerd behind the desk in Multi-National United (MNU) and then later on realizing that he was caught in a middle of a all-war-out hunt on him was superbly done.

Photobucket

This movie has a 18-SG on it's category so small kiddies please don't go watch. Why? Cause this ain't ET or Aliens in the Attic. This movie is generally a quite violent movie, politically sense generated and it covers alot of the tension that's been goin around currently in this world. Most of the message are metaphorically translated into this movie.

Photobucket

Overall it's a thumbs up movie for me.

Chevelle - Jars Single Music Review

Photobucket

Just found out about Chevelle's lastest single Jars. Gotta say I'm always an avid fan of them. Jars indeed has all the characteristics on the classic Chevelle's elements of simple riffs and power-packed power chords.

I do find the chorus a lil' less of the ummphh but once hearing it a couple of times, gotta say i have to take that notion back. Can't wait for the full length of their album releasing at 1st September titled Sci-fi Crimes.

Looking forwards to that. Below is a Youtube link to that song and the lyrics below, Enjoy!

Hold onto chance
Lest we bleed ourselves
Then save for the pets
They’re the loneliest

Put into jars
We’ll save this earth
Put into jars
We’ll save this earth

We can’t both become the same pawn
That’s made to fall
Oil that tastes like blood
Stole the summer scent
from me to you
You’re stabbing me through you
You’re stabbing you through him
And betting most of...
This world!!
We’ll add enough of the world

Steal from yourselves
It never felt so good
collect feed from their hand’s
Confused by opposites

Put into jars
We’ll save this earth
Put into jars
Keep safe this earth

We can’t both become the same pawn
That’s made to fall
Oil that tastes like blood
Stole the summer scent
from me to you
You’re stabbing me through you
You’re stabbing you through him
And betting most of...

This world!!
We’ll add enough of the world (x2)

Feeling manic for a day
Depends on the trends
Depends on the surface
If the sun never sets

We can’t both become the same pawn
That’s made to fall
Oil that tastes like blood
Stole the summer scent
from me to you
You’re stabbing me through you
You’re stabbing you through him
And betting most of...
This world!!
We’ll add enough of the world

Is the main thing you’ll shout
Till the bitter end...

EPIC Fail!!!

Apparently some Manu fans where still upset over the match yesterday. Blaming the referee for not calling the foul on Evra by Ballack. Ballack was indeed the most hated person by Manu fans after the sour defeat.

But rather than blaming the referee or Michael Ballack, i think they should have blame the real culprit...

Photobucket

Epic fail is indeed an epic win for me! Lolz...
